Usage Policy

We have minimal restrictions on the type of content allowed on your WriteFreely.host community — in general, we leave that entirely up to you, the admin of your community.

If you need to report activity that violates the policies below, please contact us at abuse@writefreely.host.

Banned Uses

These are uses that are not allowed under any circumstances on WriteFreely.host instances.

• Unlawful activity. To keep people safe and make sure our lives don't get so difficult we need to shut down, don't use your WriteFreely instance to conduct illegal behavior, like fraud or phishing.
• Exploits and resource abuse. So everyone can continue enjoying our services, don't attempt to exploit, disrupt, or otherwise abuse our system resources.

How we handle violations

When we notice or receive reports of any violations, we'll first get in touch with the admin of the offending WriteFreely instance. Our first goal is to try to rectify the issue, along with their help.

If we can not reach the admin or they refuse to help, we'll suspend their instance and send them a backup of it, so they can move their data to a new host.
